This week was spent entirely on creating Princess Peach's beaded sleeves and finishing up that butterfly cross-stitch I'd been working on. All the sleeve progress can currently be seen on Facebook. As for the butterfly, it's being featured here for the two stitching events my friends signed me up for: D.E.S.I.G.N. and Tons of Tiny.
First: this qualifies for Tons of Tiny which is a project that says anything in a 100x100 stitching area counts towards the final pile of loot. Since this pattern is only a few over (I think it's like 103) I'm considering it part of the event.
The more complicated event is D.E.S.I.G.N. which is about featuring the designer.
What project are you working on this month? - Butterfly Beauty from Dimensions Gold Nuggets Collection, designed by Lori Turoscy. Originally this pattern is meant to be finished with some beads, ribbon, and fancy preprinted fabric. I'm just going to iron it and sell it finished like this.
Have you stitched a project by this designer before? Dimensions, yes. Lori... uncertain. I do own a second pattern by her that is also through Dimensions.
Would you buy/stitch a design by this designer again? Why/Why not? Well, sure! The other pattern I own is also butterflies, a subject I love to stitch.
What made you choose this particular design/designer? Butterflies. And pink flowers!
Did you notice anything that distinguished this designer from others? The shading is quite incredible. My quick photo above doesn't do it justice. The blues and pinks fade into each other quite seamlessly. The greens stand out more but I think that has more to do with the shadows and plant life. The original finishing for the pattern is quite ambitious and I'm sure that would appeal to many looking for inventive ways to do so.
That's all this week, hopefully next week Peach will be finished and all my photos will be in for the magazine interview.

That is a very pretty butterfly and yay on nearly finishing Peach, can't wait to see her.
ReplyDeleteI love how bold and bright the pattern is, and as I said before BEAUTIFUL stitching!
ReplyDeleteAND, I'm thinking I might investigate that designer a bit more, her pattern here is quite striking and if she likes to design things with butterflies...hmmm I think that counts me in as very interested :D
DeleteIt is so lovely you did a wonderful job with this and I love your write up of the designer :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty finish! I love how it counts for both check ins at once ^_^ Also, butterfly! I will have to look that designer up later...
ReplyDeleteI've come ver from the DESIGN blog, this is a lovely piece, so much detail in a small area. The printed fabric is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHiya,
DeletePinky is having issues with her blogger account and can't reply to your directly but asked me if I'd drop by to let you know and also to say thanks so much for dropping by and thanks for your lovely comment :)
Magical.
